Mr. Standen Goes To Washington

A few weeks ago we took a long weekend and went to Washington DC. Paul had never been before and we have friends who are working there. So we visited with friends and visited all the sites. It was a great little getaway! My only regret is that Nora won't remember any of it, I guess that is why we take so many pictures!

Watching airplanes!

A quiet moment on the plane.

Nora's first metro ride.

Vacationing is hard work!

Us in front of the White House.

By happen-stance we stumbled onto a parade...this is when Bob & Larry were passing by.
As you can tell Nora is really interested!

Next to the Washington Memorial.

Our little Patriot!

We picked the Natural History Museum to visit and it was fantastic!

Nora versus T-Rex!

A Special Celebration

Jesus may have been able to rise from the dead in 3 days but I was not able to get these pictures up in a reasonable amount of time, I guess that's why He's the Almighty and I, a mere mortal!

Regardless, Easter was a wonderful day spent with church family and friends, remembering and praising God for sending His son to die for us so that we may live with Him forever! That sounds like a pretty great thing to celebrate!

The day included everything from worshiping at our home church of First Baptist Church of Los Altos, egg hunts and eating our fair share of calories!

Here are a few pictures from the day!

I tried "pink rollers" in Nora's hair for the first time.
They didn't take at all and just made her hair look scraggly!
Oh well, my mom did it to me so I had to give it a shot with Nora!

Nora with her friend Isabelle during our church Easter Egg Hunt.
It was too cold to go outside so the hunt was done indoors!

The Standen family before the wardrobe change.

Liam and Nora, enjoying their spoils!

Post "Sunday Best" and much more comfortable!

Paul plays this tree game with Nora where he pretends he is a tree and chops himself down on top of Nora, well here he is doing it to Liam.
Liam thought it was somewhat amusing/somewhat strange!

At the end of the day I remembered we had gotten these lovely headdresses and I couldn't let Easter go by without adorning them! Paul didn't want a picture taken with him in one!
P.S. Thanks Carolyn for the headbands, they were a hit!

I'm A Big Kid Now!

Nora got big girl shoes (ones that tie) for Christmas from her Aunt Angie and Uncle Josh. They finally fit (sort of) and I had to catch a picture of her...she looks like such a big girl!

Little Red Hen

The other night I made homemade bread from scratch!
I felt like the little red hen because I tried to get Nora involved but she really hated everything about the process, except the eating part.
Oh well, maybe when she gets older.

Liam I Love You!

Liam comes over on Fridays and he and Nora spend the day together. The day consists of all sorts of great learning opportunities such as playing together, sharing, trying to get away with things while I'm not looking, eating new things, staying next to the car in a parking lot and learning to deal with rejection!

Liam, I Love You Won't You Give Me A Kiss!
Liam never did give her that kiss!

Shoes!

Nora is a shoe girl! She loves picking out her shoes in the morning, she notices other peoples shoes, she cries when a shoe falls off! We are in trouble when she gets older and learns about
Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik
(not that we will be buying either of those brands for her!)!
