A Week Without Daddy

This past week Paul took a group of our FBCLA High Schoolers on a week long camp. The camp kept them very busy hiking, rafting, canyoneering, & rock climbing! We didn't hear from him all week and to pass the time Nora and I planned our own fun things!

Saying Good-Bye to Daddy.

We had dinner with a friend one night.
Here, Nora is placing her order.

We got ice cream on a hot afternoon. Nora didn't understand why she got one spoon full and I got a whole carton! The perks of being an adult I guess!

Mmmmmm!

We went out to breakfast, just the two of us, one morning. I love breakfast food and it was fun getting up and going out!

After breakfast we went shopping!
How can two girls get together and NOT go shopping!

We went to the park almost every afternoon to get the wiggles out!

Walking Max, one of our family's favorite daily tasks!

One picture, which I should have taken, was when we went to pick Paul up at the church on Friday. We walked across the parking lot and Nora was noticing the trees, the plane, her shoes but when she noticed her Daddy, all else vanished and she ran, in her waddle/hop kind of way, screaming Daddy! She ran into his arms and was happy to stay there for the rest of the day! It was very sweet and a moment I should have gotten on film but instead I will just have to keep as a memory. We are all thankful to have Paul home!

Happy Daddy Day!

Sunday was a very busy day in the Standen house so we celebrated Father's Day on Saturday. Nora went around all day saying Happy...Daddy...Day!

We began the day with breakfast in bed for Paul. Then we moved on to the Discovery Science Museum where we explored, learned, played and got REALLY wet! We ended up at Paul's favorite little hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant for burritos and quesadillas! Then, back home for naps and sermon prep. On Sunday, Paul preached for the first time in "big church" and then he packed up 30 high schoolers and headed for a week long summer camp.

Nora is so lucky to have Paul as her daddy and I look forward to many more Happy Daddy Days!

Like Siblings

Max, our dog, and Nora are like siblings. They are very close to the same size, they want many of the same things (food, play, attention & sleep) and they know how to push each others buttons. Well, more like Nora knows how to push Max's buttons and he does a good job of putting up with her.

One of Nora's favorite things to do is to get into Max's bed (especially when he is sleeping soundly in it)! This always raises a lively game of tug of war and whoever wins gets to claim the dog bed as theirs.

Here are the pictures I could best take of this hilarious interaction amongst siblings.

Nora won this round!

Making a Memory on Memorial Day

We took our Memorial Day trip to the beach and it was memorable!

Nora loved yelling at the birds!

It is Awesome to be 2!

On Saturday we celebrated with the Shulls Liam's 2nd Birthday! We met them for donuts, coffee and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Liam!
